About me

Cathy Toogood

Travel writer and editor

I’m a Manchester-based travel writer and editor.

I write regularly for national newspapers, travel trade magazines and travel companies, both online and in print.

As a proud Mancunian, I frequently write about the city I call home, but I also write destination guides and hotel reviews around the world. Recent travelling highlights include a Greek island Interrail adventure with my seven and 10-year-olds, a women’s expedition in Turkey and gorilla trekking in Rwanda.

I have experience putting impactful copy together for a range of travel companies, from start-ups to huge worldwide brands. I worked as travel editor at TravelSupermarket for six years, creating and implementing its content strategy, so I understand the importance of online content as part of a brand’s digital marketing strategy.

Clients include:

Newspapers: The Telegraph, The Times, The i Paper, The Independent, Evening Standard

Magazines: Travel Weekly, Waitrose & Partners Food

Online: Forbes Advisor UK, loveEXPLORING, TravelSupermarket, Rentalcars, Sykes Cottages, Marriott, Omio, Tripsmiths Media, Tour Radar, THE OUT

“Cathy was a joy to work with – passionate about travel and writing, a creative thinker in terms of content ideas and trying new things, and always professional in her approach.”
